Waiting Space releases new instrumental, 'Cocoon'. The new release is accompanied by a self-produced drone video (watch below), assembled from footage of an almost-empty Waterford City, Ireland, taken in April 2020, during COVID-19 - shot within 2 k.m. of Chris Falconer (Waiting Space)'s home.

What a situation to find myself in, for my first live performance as Waiting Space - and it was caught on video, in all its teething glory!

Delighted to have been invited by Labyrinth Management & Events to perform the piece 'Genius Loci', as part of their The Sublimation Hour series - with Soma Contemporary Gallery Waterford kindly offering itself as a venue for the evening - surrounded by the sculpture of Breda Lynch's current exhibition, 'Memento Mori'. I was absolutely spoiled.

Last night Waiting Space slyly played its first live performance - and it was caught on video, in all its teething glory!

Delighted to have been invited by Labyrinth Management & Events to perform the piece 'Genius Loci', as part of their The Sublimation Hour series - with Soma Contemporary Gallery Waterford kindly offering itself as a venue for the evening - surrounded by the sculpture of Breda Lynch's current exhibition, 'Memento Mori'. 'copied feathers' e.p. teaser VIDEO LAUNCHED

I've moved onto work on the next release; which is going to be the simultaneous release of three songs as an e.p., later in the year.

'Tentatively'-titled (because it may very well change in the months in between) 'Copied Feathers', it's a concept e.p. inspired by the myth of Icarus. The three pieces will act as a soundtrack to three interlinked, short-films of the same names I'm going to put together also; with two presenting the story from the separate perspectives Icarus, and Daedalus - and the event that is at the centre of it all, in between.

Enjoy the teaser (with a little snippet of the track 'Daedalus')...because I won't have much extra on it for a few months!.. Off I go into a cave to work on it...

About the song:

The term 'Borrowed Memories' (in this context), refers to the quest to find a happy medium between your own experiences of Christmas, and the overblown promises of Christmases on tv, and in film, and literature. The imagined memories that they can offer can definitely feed the celebrations of the season - but it might also be important not to forget the importance of original experience, and the true happenings with those you love around you. Writing a Christmas song also comes with a certain level of freedom, in that you can be forgiven for being a cheesier lyricist than usual...
